Our mornings usually start around 6 am. We eat breakfast, head down to the lab to get collection gear, then to the dive locker to get suited up, and then go get the boat.
 |
| The dive locker. Imagine the odor in a hot room full of that much wet neoprene. |
 |
| A grey morning usually means calmer seas. |
 |
| Dock skiff shenanigans. Jordan is, in fact, wearing a sweatshirt over her wetsuit. |

Note: 3 people exited the boat right after this photo was taken. There are way too many people on the boat for the amount of dive gear and collection gear we bring out.
Others have taken photos of our underwater setup, which I hope to post soon. In the meantime, here is a textbook example of how we collect live foraminifera underwater via scuba diving.

that may be the greatest text book photo ever!
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with seebees about the text book illustration, though it would be more amusing if their were fish, or even a shark, in it as well!
